The current challenges of the reuse industry

Online auctions and flea market apps have greatly expanded the reuse market in recent years. However, behind this success lies the fact that the selling experience is not for everyone. For many people, selling unwanted items has been difficult. The biggest reason is the large burden on the seller in the process of listing, trading and shipping. In addition, when selling brand-name items, there is no online-only option; there is the traditional method of bringing them to a physical store, having someone visit your home or using a mail-order purchase service. This real-world reuse experience also has challenges for both the seller and the stores that wish to purchase. 1. Issues with Listing

Listing an item on an online auction or flea market app is equivalent to the responsibly of running your own store. The listing information requires accurate detailed information about the product, such as the brand name, model number, condition, size and it was also needed to take attractive photos then edit them. In addition, in order to set an appropriate price, it was also needed to take the time to conduct market price research. These responsibilities required a lot of time and effort, plus the pressure of having to take responsibility for sales was a barrier to the experience of selling something for the first time.

2. Issues in Transactions

Chatting with potential buyers, negotiating prices, and adjusting transaction terms were stressful for many sellers. In addition, there was a risk of complaints about the product description or requests for returns, so the mental burden of making an effort to write product information that would avoid trouble and dealing with transaction problems was significant. Considering these risks and efforts, many sellers thought, "It would be easier to have a store buy my item for a slightly lower price than to go through the trouble of listing it and then have trouble" and this was a major issue in increasing the number of sellers on flea market apps and online auctions.

3. Issues with Shipping

Preparing the right packaging materials, packaging items to protect them and using the right delivery company for shipping can be difficult, especially for beginners. Incorrect packaging methods or sizes can also lead to problems.

4. Selling to a reuse shop or pawn shop

When individuals bring their items to a store to sell, there are issues such as the hassle of transporting them, long waiting times and the need to visit multiple stores because the price is not satisfactory. When requesting a home visit to purchase items, there are issues with many people feeling scared or uncomfortable about strangers entering their private space.

5. Purchasing challenges for reuse businesses

While online auctions and flea market apps are attractive purchasing routes for reuse businesses, there are often times when the procedure to purchase an item is complicated and the system design does not take corporate buyers into consideration, making them inefficient. Furthermore, there are risks associated with checking the authenticity and condition of products, limiting their use as purchasing locations.

6. Issues with bulk purchase appraisal services

While bulk purchase appraisal sites offer convenience, the better the product, the more likely it is that you will be bombarded with calls from multiple buyers after applying. This is an annoying and stressful experience for busy working people, housewives raising children, and youngsters who dislike phone calls. In addition, it is easy for unfortunate cases to occur where the price is lowered after the product has been shipped.

With these issues, many people have given up on buying and selling unwanted items, and there has been a growing demand for easy and safe ways to sell. In order to thoroughly resolve these issues, IKURAS aims to further develop the reuse market by presenting new options to sellers and buyers.

What you can do with IKURAS?

Consolidate everything and turn it into money.

Aren't you tired of listing, shipping, and trading each item one by one? When you move or change your clothes, simply scan each item in your home with your camera and AI will help you list them all at once. Professional buyers from all over the country will bid at the right price, so you can compare and sell at the highest price.

Users from our test version have given the app high praise, saying that they were able to quickly sell expensive brand items that are difficult to sell on flea market apps at a satisfying price.

No sales calls or emails. No fees or shipping charges.

With IKURAS, the store will send you a delivery kit, so you don't have to prepare for packing or shipping and of course, delivery is free. As a seller, the platform will also not be charging you any platform fees.

Selling used goods to strangers can be troublesome, but with IKURAS, you can be rest assured that the buyers are only professional shops with a second-hand goods dealer license. A transaction concierge is involved, so there are no persistent solicitations such as phone calls or emails from the store.

A fun and sustainable reuse experience with a point-earning game

The app is inhabited by the character "Ikura-chan." If you visit the app every day and "squish" Ikura-chan by tapping on it, he will gradually evolve into a different character. You can get various rewards such as popular products, digital assets, and other company points. Thus, the more you sell unwanted items on IKURAS, the quicker you can earn points and eventually save money.

In the future, we will introduce a point-earning ecosystem that can be used both inside and outside the app and we will continue to cooperate to make it easier to exchange earned points for all kinds of digital assets.

Public registration for purchase buyers has begun

Currently, IKURAS buyers are only corporations and sole proprietors with secondhand goods dealer licenses, and are invitation-only. From our test version up until now, we have tested and run the product with only 20 businesses that related to our concept, and have been improving the product. To coincide with the official release, we will begin openly recruiting reuse business partners who will purchase from IKURAS.
